Story Mode is the base roguelike experience of TVRUHH. It is the first mode that players have access to upon starting the game. After selecting a character to play as and an appropriate difficulty, the player will try and make it to the end of an increasingly difficult gauntlet of boss battles by befriending monsters with the power of love.

The first time the player tries story mode, they will receive a tutorial from Unit Lulu that teaches them about how battles work before starting the day. However, there are many other things to consider in between battles, which are described in this page.

Start of the Day

Playable Characters

  • Her Heart: The heart of a young Zaraden woman. Unlocked by default.
  • Defect: Doesn't seem quite right. Unlocked by suffering 5 heartbreaks in Story Mode
  • Twin Heart: Two Zaraden siblings. Unlocked by reaching rank 15 in Quickplay mode
  • The Devil: Eager to fight. Unlocked by collecting 400 total tetrids.

Difficulties

The harder it's raining, the higher the level of monsters players will encounter. Levels determine how powerful a monster is. The higher the level, the more dangerous their attack patterns will become, but they will drop more motes as a reward. Some dreams can only be fulfilled on higher difficulties and monster levels.

  • Mist Rain: Monsters have reduced power. Levels range from 0-6, and will usually be a lower level than normally possible. Medals are not rewarded for completing this difficulty.
  • Light Rain: Monsters have normal power. Levels range from 1-9.
  • Heavy Rain: Monsters have increased power. Levels range from 4-12. Unlocked by loving a level 4 or higher monster in Story Mode.
  • Torrent Rain: Monsters have extreme power. Levels range from 7-15. Monsters will be frequently leveled past their normal limit on this difficulty. Unlocked by radiating 20 monster cards.

The difficulty selection screen also has statistics showing the player's highest score, karma, loves, and monster level achieved on each difficulty and character. Players can also see how many times they loved each final boss, as well as their best time/score/level for each of them.
